JONNE AMAYA
Mining new trends in a traditional industry.
FUNDING: $2,000
FUNDED: 12.04.19
Jewelry holds sentimental and monetary value that only grows over time. Jonne Amaya set out to preserve those precious heirlooms while preserving the Earth, too. To combat the mining of new stones out of the Earth, she works with clients to repurpose custom pieces from jewelry they already own. “The jewelry industry is saturated. It’s so many of the same designs over and over. I’m trying to solve an industry that is very traditional.”
Amaya received 3rd place at the Hustle HQ event and $2,000. With the help of VELO’s funding, she plans to hire a PR firm and establish herself as the first personal sustainable jeweler, order packaging in smaller quantities, pay her jewelers in a timelier manner, and start shifting 100% of her time towards her side hustle.
